Home / Uncategorized / Keep2p34Ch” captures 6/16/15 Super Tuesday, $81K; Steve “Mr. Tim Caum” O’Dwyer third

There were quite a few notables at this week’s Super Tuesday final table, including Ben “NeverScaredB” Wilinofsky, Luuk “pokerkluka” Gieles, and Paul “Paul12907” Allen. Then with three players left Steve “Mr. Tim Caum” O’Dwyer was the most familiar name among those remaining.

With more than $10 million in tournament winnings — including victories in the EPT9 Grand Final Main Event in 2013 and the PCA $100,000 Super High Roller earlier this year — O’Dwyer is no stranger to deep tournament runs, and it appeared for a short while tonight he might conclude yet another one with a first-place finish.

But after grabbing the chip lead for a time during three-handed play, O’Dwyer ran into an unfortunate hand to stop his momentum before falling in third, and a short while after that it was Keep2p34Ch” of Morocco coming away with the victory and a $81,246.40 prize following a heads-up deal.

A total of 462 came out this week, building a $462,000 prize pool that bested the tournament’s $400K guarantee. They had just hit the tournament’s six-hour mark when the money bubble burst, and with 54 players left the shrakher enjoyed the chip lead.

Less than an hour-and-a-half later they were already down to 18 players, with Ben “NeverScaredB” Wilinofsky having moved into first position while the shrakher was still alive with a below average stack.

Terkenfan89 (18th), Carlos “cearapoker26” Porto (17th), and cmd1050 (16th) were the next out, each earning $4,158. They were followed by Andy “wiisssppppaa” Taylor (15th), Goldenboys (14th), and GOGOGOGO#1 (13th) who took away $5,082 apiece. Then Spowi07 (12th), superf1sh (11th), and earlier leader the shrakher (10th) were successively eliminated, with those three cashing for $6,006 each.

They had just crossed the eight-hour mark, and with Keep2p34Ch” the new chip leader, the final table was underway.

Seat 4: Luuk “pokerkluka” Gieles (Netherlands) — 112,726
Seat 5: Ben “NeverScaredB” Wilinofsky (Canada) — 269,031
Seat 6: Keep2p34Ch” (Morocco) — 483,424
Seat 7: prebz (Norway) — 361,117
Seat 8: Paul “Paul12907” Allen (United Kingdom) — 96,686
Seat 9: garyknife (Sweden) — 194,725

Shortly after the final table began, the blinds were 2,400/4,800 when Paul “Paul12907” Allen opened for 9,600 from the button, then after Steve “Mr. Tim Caum” O’Dwyer shoved from the big blind, Allen called all in with the almost 62,000 he had left.

O’Dwyer showed 9â™  9♦ while Allen had A♣ Q♦ . The board came Jâ™  4♣ 4♦ 4♥ 5♥ , meaning Allen’s run was over in ninth.

About 10 minutes later the blinds were 2,800/5,600 when Keep2p34Ch” raised to 11,600 from middle position, then it folded to hulinada in the big blind who three-bet to just under 33,000. Keep2p34Ch” responded with a reraise to 54,600, hulinada shoved for 222,860 total, and Keep2p34Ch” called.

hulinada had Q♣ Q♥ , but Keep2p34Ch” had the big edge with A♥ A♦ . That edge got even bigger after the Kâ™  A♣ 3♦ flop, although the Jâ™  turn did provide a straight possibility for hulinada. But the river was the 7♥ , and hulinada was done in eighth.

The remaining seven players battled onward past the nine-hour mark, then with the blinds having increased again to 4,000/8,000, it was prebz min-raising to 16,000 from under the gun, then Ben “NeverScaredB” Wilinofsky reraised-pushed for just over 100,000 from the small blind and prebz called.

Wilinofsky had A♣ 10♠ and needed to improve to beat the A♥ K♥ of prebz. The flop came 10♥ J♣ 6♥ to give Wilinofsky a leading pair, but the Q♠ followed on the turn to make a Broadway straight for prebz. The river was the J♠ , and Wilinofsky was out in seventh.

A few minutes later the blinds were 4,500/9,000 when Keep2p34Ch” raised to 19,000 from early position, garyknife called from the button, and Steve “Mr. Tim Caum” O’Dwyer called as well from the small blind. Then Palmero92 squeeze-shoved from the big blind for a little over 118,000, Keep2p34Ch” called, and the others stepped aside.

Palmero92 had 8â™  8♦ , but Keep2p34Ch” had a better pocket pair with 10â™  10♥ . The board came 3♥ 2♥ 3â™  Jâ™  7â™  , and Palmero92 was eliminated in sixth.

They’d nearly reached the 10-hour mark when garyknife opened for the minimum to 20,000 from UTG and Steve “Mr. Tim Caum” O’Dwyer called from a seat over. It folded to prebz in the big blind who called as well, and the flop fell 3♦ 7♥ 9♦ . prebz checked, garyknife bet just under 30,000, O’Dwyer folded, and prebz called. The turn then brought the Q♣ and another check from prebz, and when garyknife fired again for just over 71,000, prebz called once more.

The river was the 7♦ . prebz checked again, garyknife pushed all in with the 172,735 left, and prebz called. garyknife turned over K♦ K♠ for kings and sevens, but prebz had A♦ 6♦ for a flush and garyknife was cut down in fifth.

Play marched on, then a hand arose that saw Steve “Mr. Tim Caum” O’Dwyer open shove from the small blind, then Luuk “pokerkluka” Gieles called all in from the big blind for just under 120,000 (about seven-and-a-half big blinds).

O’Dwyer had Q♦ 2♦ and Gieles 4♥ 4♣ , and the latter was still in front after the 2â™  7♣ A♦ flop and 10♦ turn. But the J♦ landed on the river to complete a flush for O’Dwyer, and Gieles was stopped in fourth.

That pot pushed O’Dwyer up over 315,000, but he was behind prebz with just over 480,000 and well behind leader Keep2p34Ch” who sat with about 1.51 million.

They pushed on past the 11-hour mark, with Keep2p34Ch” remaining the big leader. prebz brought up the idea of a deal in the chat box, but O’Dwyer said “no ty” and play continued.

O’Dwyer began chipping back, first passing prebz, then pushing out ahead of Keep2p34Ch” to grab the chip lead. O’Dwyer built up even further, then lost a big one to prebz when the latter picked up pocket kings versus O’Dwyer’s pocket queens to grab the advantage. Then it was Keep2p34Ch” winning a big preflop all-in with A♣ K♣ versus prebz’s Aâ™  10♣ to take over the lead once more.

Then with the blinds at 15,000/30,000, O’Dwyer open-shoved for just under 515,000 from the button with J♥ 9♥ and prebz quickly called with A♣ Q♣ in the big blind. The board ran out K♣ 3♣ 9â™  10♥ 4♣ , adding up to a flush for prebz and a third-place finish for O’Dwyer.

Not long after that the remaining pair stopped the tournament to talk about that deal, with Keep2p34Ch” slightly in front with 1,207,928 to prebz’s 1,102,072. The two players fairly quickly agreed to an even chop of the remaining prize money — leaving $8,000 for which to play — and the deal was done.

prebz would edge out in front as they crossed over into the tournament’s 13th hour, then a hand arose that saw prebz button raise, Keep2p34Ch” call, then both check a 7♣ 10♣ 8♦ flop. The Q♥ turn then earned a check-raise from Keep2p34Ch”, called by prebz.

The 9♣ completed the board on the river, and after Keep2p34Ch” checked again, prebz bet once more, then Keep2p34Ch” check-raised all in. prebz thought for some time, going into the time bank before finally making the call and showing K♦ Jâ™  for a king-high straight. But Keep2p34Ch” had J♣ 3♣ for a flush, and suddenly Keep2p34Ch” was the big leader.

Four hands later, Keep2p34Ch” was up over 2.06 million and prebz down to about 204,000 when prebz open-pushed from the button with Q♣ 8♦ and Keep2p34Ch” called with Q♦ 10♥ . The board rolled out 7â™  Aâ™  8♣ Q♥ A♥ , meaning both made aces and queens but the kickers played, and Keep2p34Ch” was the winner.

Congratulations to Keep2p34Ch” for topping this week’s field to win the Super Tuesday. Kudos also to prebz for making it to the heads-up deal and to Steve “Mr. Tim Caum” O’Dwyer for another impressive tourney showing to finish third.
