They’re down under 70 players now — just over a dozen eliminations away from the cash — in the LAPT Chile Main Event, with some thriving, some just surviving, and some driving home.
Both Christian de Leon and Nicolas Fierro had leading stacks earlier, but now find themselves back down to average stack status. Meanwhile Oscar Alache (275,000), Rodrigo Cristobal Quezada (270,000), and Nacho Barbero (230,000) have accumulated well enough to contend for the lead.
The Argentinian Andres Jeckeln had a top 10 stack to start today, but after losing a few pots early lost nearly all of his stack in a hand versus Luis Esquivel. Together the pair had built a pot of about 170,000 by the turn, at which point Esquivel was all in with a flush draw and Jeckeln had a made hand with second pair.
The flush came in for Esquivel, though, and just a couple of hands later Jeckeln lost the rest of his stack to hit the rail.
Julian Menendez was another player who had returned today to above average chips. The one-time LAPT champion had traveled all of the way here from near Buenos Aires on his motorcycle, covering more than 800 miles (1300 km) in two days.
Alas for Menendez, his trip through the LAPT Chile Main Event didn’t last quite as long as he lost the last of his stack during Level 14.
We were earlier reporting on the remaining women in the event. Two of them still remain — Renata Teixeria (with about an average stack of 105,000) and Ale Braga (with about 60,000). Meanwhile both Monica Hadad and Nayara Rocha have fallen shy of the cash as well.
In Rocha’s last hand she committed her last 52,000 with Aā„ Kā versus Felipe Costa’s 10ā¦ 10ā„ , but a jack-high board brought her no improvement and her tournament run came to an end.
