Home / Uncategorized / Sunday Warm-Up: Firka fires up a victory, winning $64K after four-way deal

Unlike the current Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) series, the $500,000 guarantee Sunday Warm-Up would be played with normal blind structures lasting over 11 hours long. Like the TCOOP events however, big money awaited the players who reach the final table after overcoming large fields. Skiny4me almost captured a TCOOP title and a Sunday Warm-Up in the same weekend but in the end it was Firka claiming the title and $64,927.06 after a four-way deal.

Read below for the late stages of Firka’s title run:

Only 13 players managed to make it into the ninth hour of play. Included in that bunch was former Sunday Warm-Up champ love2hit who claim this title in August 2014. However love2hit would not become a two-time winner after running figuratively into xTheWall’s pocket kings taking away $3,798.75 in 12th place.

Six hands later on the final table bubble, bigfox86 would also run into xTheWall. With the blinds up to 50K/100K ante 10K bigfox86 would open shove for 515,216 chips as xTheWall called in the big blind holding A♣ Jâ™  . bigfox86’s K♦ Q♥ could not overcome a flopped jack 9♦ J♦ 2♣ 3â™  J♣ opening up the final table below:

Seat 1: TeodorKAMATA (2010166 in chips)
Seat 2: xTheWall (2736794 in chips)
Seat 3: dvash9 (2993801 in chips)
Seat 4: Skiny4me (2675983 in chips)
Seat 5: SirLocoFin (8659821 in chips)
Seat 6: yard_warrior (695838 in chips)
Seat 7: TAN2 (1087538 in chips)
Seat 8: Firka (5625807 in chips)
Seat 9: maggess88 (3904252 in chips)

In turbo-like fashion, yard_warrior’s time at the final table was considerably short. Just seven hands after the spotlights came on, yard_warrior would shove all-in for 625,838 chips as maggess88 called, and Skiny4me shoved 1.4 million from the small blind. maggess88 decided to make the call showing A♦ 10â™  as yard_warrior also flipped up A♣ 10♦ . Skiny4me’s pocket kings K♣ K♥ would survive the Qâ™  Q♣ 5♦ 4â™  5♥ board, but yard_warrior would not, earning $4,862.40 in ninth place.

Like love2hit, yard_warrior was looking for a second Sunday Warm-Up title after winning in 2012 but that chase will wait until next week.

maggess88’s losses to Skiny4me would ultimately lead to an eighth place finish. After 15 minutes of play, maggess88 would raise over a limping Firka, who came back with a shove for four million chips. maggess88 decided to call all-in with Aâ™  Jâ™  but Firka’s pocket fours 4â™  4♦ found one on the flop 6♦ K♣ 4♣ 7♥ 2♥ to send maggess88 home in eighth place ($7,901.40).

TeodorKAMATA’s trip back from the tenth hourly break was a short one. SirLocoFin’s straight would take out TeodorKAMATA’s flopped set, earning $13,979.40 in seventh place. Six minutes later dvash9 would suffer the same tournament fate after SirLocoFin scored a rivered straight ending dvash9’s run in sixth place ($20,057.40).

Skiny4me’s stack would shrink to zero after trying to bluff Firka off a pair of nines to claim $26,135.40 in fifth place. Don’t feel too bad for Skiny4me as the newly crowned TCOOP champ (Event #13) won $30,356.10 last night.

Shortly after Skiny4me left to hopefully celebrate a successful weekend, the remaining four players would work out a deal for the remaining prize pool leaving $10K aside for the winner:

xTheWall $75,984.67
SirLocoFin $63,983.26
Firka $54,927.06
TAN2 $47,050.95

In a bit of a role-reversal, shortly after the break Firka and TAN2’s stacks started to grow at the expense of SirLocoFin and xTheWall. Seven minutes after cutting up the deal, SirLocoFin would be staring down Firka’s shove with the board showing 4♥ Q♦ 8♥ 6♣ . Holding 2.7 million chips left, SirLocoFin made the call with A♥ K♥ trying to catch something against Firka’s flopped pair Q♣ 3♥ . The ace did not come on the river 7â™  , shipping $63,983.26 to SirLocoFin in fourth place.

Firka made no intention of waiting out the other two players after capturing the chip lead. First, with the blinds up to 200K/400K ante 40K TAN2 would shove all-in from the small blind for five million holding deuces 2♠ 2♥ . Firka was ready to gamble with K♣ 5♣ and the call was rewarded with a flopped king 3♥ K♥ 10♦ 3♠ 9♦ giving TAN2 the $47,050.95 from the four-way deal.

Six hands later Firka held a 16.9 million to 13.4 million chip lead over xTheWall and the two decided to end things early. Firka made the shove with A♣ 10â™  as xTheWall called holding the dominating Aâ™  Q♦ . The $10K looked like it would soon make another brick of cash in xTheWall, but instead a ten was laid on the river A♦ 4♦ Kâ™  4♥ 10♥ earning Firka $64,927.06 and this week’s Sunday Warm-Up title!
