Déjà vu struck as this event played down to a winner, and a quick consultation with the Book of Knowledge clarified that feeling of odd familiarity. Eight months ago, CandyJohnson won a SCOOP title and $10,657 in Event #13-M, $215 No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw. Tonight, after a final table that only spanned 23 minutes, the Norwegian struck again and captured a second “COOP” in TCOOP’s Event #12, a $27 buy-in iteration of the very same game.

Event #12 drew 1,136 players. They made 376 re-entries, for a total of 1,512 entries and a $37,119.60 prize pool. 189 places were paid with $5,409.18 up top.

The money bubble burst after a little over two hours of play. Ninety minutes later, only eight players remained. Down to his last ten big blinds, admiralph open-shoved for 403,950 and CandyJohnson reshoved for 708,354 to isolate. Both players drew one card. Admiralph’s T-9-7-6-4 low was no match for CandyJohnson’s 9-7-6-4-3 and he departed on the final table bubble.

CandyJohnson scored another knockout when lajki moved in for his last 236,000 and drew one. CandyJohnson drew one as well and hit a 9-8-6-4-3 low, while lajki paired his seven and busted his wheel draw. Chip leader Raabinator93 grew stronger and topped 3 million after busting Premove, who made a UTG shove for 314,000. Raabinator93 called from second position with a pat 9-7. Premove drew one, but paired eights (8-8-5-4-3) and hit the rail in sixth place.

Three hands later, the action folded to CandyJohnson in the small blind. He moved in for 1.07 million and ARAFAT1984 called off his remaining 514,988. Both players drew one card and both paired, CandyJohnson rolling over 5-4-3-2-2 and ARAFAT1984 revealing 9-9-8-5-3. CandyJohnson’s pair of deuces were the best hand and he moved up to 1.71 million while ARAFAT1984 departed in fifth place.

With four players remaining, Raabinator93 still held the lead with 3.56 million and he extended it further when he called fish_san’s button shove. Fish_san stood pat with T-8-7-6-5 while Raabinator93 drew one. However, Raabinator93 improved to a 9-8-5-3-2 and claimed another victim, ending fish_san’s run in fourth place.

Three-handed play began with Raabinator93 leading the pack with 4.62 million. Rulez84 was second with 1.69 million and CandyJohnson the short stack with 1.24 million. CandyJohnson gained some ground in a blind vs. blind hand he opened pre-draw for 169,600. Rulez84 called from the big blind and drew one card while CandyJohnson stood pat. CandyJohnson led out for 240,000 and rulez84 called, only to muck at the sight of CandyJohnson’s T-8-6-5-2.

Rulez84 fell below 1 million in chips before calling off his stack to another small-blind shove from CandyJohnson. Both players drew one. CandyJohnson only managed a K-T-8-5-3 low, but rulez84 made a seven-high straight and went out in third place.

Raabinator93 drew one but came up empty with A-6-5-4-2, sealing CandyJohnson’s victory.
