It’s been just a few days since the Latin American Poker Tour crowned its first-ever Bahamas champion and first champion of Season 8. Now the LAPT is ready to talk about what’s next.

Today, the LAPT announced its remaining stops for the year, including a brand new venue and a slightly new way of doing things.

In March, the LAPT will return to Vina del Mar, Chile. After that, it’s off to Panama in May and Peru in July. From there, the LAPT will return to Uruguay in September, but this time at a new venue, the Conrad Resort and Casino. Everything will finish off in November at the BSOP Millions in Sao Paulo.

The LAPT Main Event buy-ins are being increased to $2,500 while maintaining the unlimited re-entry format. In addition, Season 8 will feature poker variants other than No-Limit Texas Hold’em. The line-up for each stop will have a minimum of 13 tournaments including Pot-Limit Omaha, and mixed games like H.O.S.E.

“PokerStars live events across the world offer the most diverse selection of different poker variants around,” said David Carrion, Director of Live Operations. “In Latin America, it is a challenge to cater for players fond of the less popular types, however this is something we are determined to do and are proud to introduce strong formats this season. With more variety available, we aim to attract more grinders, recreational and all-round players who can see higher EV with these options.”

Fresh off a record-breaking LAPT Bahamas Main Event, the tour is ready to see its biggest festivals yet. In the Bahamas, 736 players played for $1.9 million with $367,928 if it going to champion Josh Kay who beat EPT Prague Season 8 champion Martin Finger heads up.
