The first season of the PokerStars France Poker Series has been a great success, and this grand final in Paris was always going to be top of the bill. So it proved, with 567 players showing up for the €2,000 buy-in tournament, generating a prize pool of nearly a million euros.

After the four days were over, it was the German Marvin Rettenmaier who picked up the trophy and €244,036 first prize. Heads-up had lasted just 15 minutes when this happened: Rettenmaier and Basil Yaïche saw a K107 flop and all the money went in. 107 and two pair for Rettenmaier and a straight draw with 89 for Yaiche.

The K turn and 4 river won it for the German, leaving Yaïche to collect €153,000 for second place.

Keep an eye on the France Poker Series website for details of future events.
