It was a fine day for poker players in the United Kingdom yesterday, as three titles from the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) went to bearers of Britain’s Union Flag. (One of them may have been Spanish, but it doesn’t matter.) The brilliant Brits headline the latest round-up from the WCOOP tables.

• WCOOP 2018 passes its halfway point; 99 tournaments complete
• 33,000 entries to $11 NLHE event
• Three titles for British players (including London-based Spaniard Adrian “Amadi_017” Mateos)

BOW DOWN TO THE WCOOP BRITS
Until last weekend, British players had had to peer up the WCOOP countries leader board to their rivals from Brazil. The Samba masters quickly raced into the lead in the counts for most titles, adding another two WCOOP victories in tournaments finishing early Monday.
But then WCOOP-37 started. It was a Progressive Knockout turbo, with buy-ins at $11, $109 and $1,050. And British players won all three levels, including the high buy-in event, where former TCOOP champion Simon “simon1471” Higgins beat Luke “lb6121” Schwartz heads up.
OK, OK. That’s not quite true. At the $109 level, “Amadi_017” outlasted a field of 2,822 to win $40,888. But most poker followers will know that “Amadi_017” is better known as Spanish No 1 Adrian Mateos.
Great Britain’s finest: Adrian Mateos
But Mateos lives in London these days, and he has the familiar red, white and blue flag next to his name. And you just try wrestling this WCOOP victory from the Queen. She will not let it go.

BEHIND THE HEADLINES
“ImDaNutz” is da nuts, finally: Chris “ImDaNutz” Oliver has $7.7 million in PokerStars winnings, is a former world No 1 player, and has been to 10 COOP final tables. But he had to wait until last night to win his first WCOOP title, when he took down the $5,200 High Roller. He has previously come second in TCOOP and SCOOP events (both in 2012), has had two third place finishes (in 2013 SCOOP and 2010 WCOOP) and has also finished fourth, seventh, eighth (twice) and ninth in these flagship event.
Finally “ImDaNutz” has a title, and he beat one of the toughest final tables of the series to win. His opponents included “bencb789”, Alexandros “mexican222” Kolonios, Naza114, Niklas “lena900” Ã…stedt and Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree.
Liv Boeree: High Roller finalist
Brazilians 1-2: The $1,050 WCOOP-31 event finished heads up between two Brazilians: Fabiano “Kovalski1” Kovalski9297 and Eder “edercampana” Campana, both online tournament regs. They did a friendly deal before “Kovalski1” took it down.
Team Pro near misses: Jeff Gross, Randy “nanonoko” Lew and Celina Lin all cashed in the $1,050 NLHE Turbo, in 11th, 37th and 41st, respectively. Their Argentinian colleague Leo Fernandez bubbled.
Twitchers trouble the scorers: In addition to regular cashers Jason “jcarver” Somerville and Jeff Gross, most of PokerStars’ other major streamers Jaime Staples, nanonoko, Fintan & Spraggy also cashed.

INTERVIEW! INTERVIEW! INTERVIEW!
For much of the first week of WCOOP, “Senkel92” was a huge storyline. The player from Norway won two WCOOP titles within the first few days, bringing his career tally to three. PokerStars Blog’s Jack Stanton was able to catch up with “Senkel92” this week and reveal the man behind the myth. Read an interview with Tobias “Senkel92” Leknes. “My confidence is naturally very high right now!” he says.

My second WCOOP event and I've somehow made it into Day 2 of the $5.50 PLO/NLHE. Only issue is I have to be up at 8am for committee training so coffee might be needed. A couple of episodes behind, but gonna try and do it for the #PokerInTheEars #Superfans, here's hoping!

Be careful what you wish for. Randy “nanonoko” Lew hopes his two opponents get their short stacks in pre-flop as he’s sitting in the big blind with jacks. But…
But then there’s always a way with nanonoko:
Get it quietly? Nah. Jeff Gross knocks out two players, including Denis “aDrENalin710” Strebkov:
