Playing Made Poker Hands

Every so often, you will flop an extremely strong made hand and your principal concern is how to maximise your return from your good fortune.

But, while many players are inclined to slow play a big hand, fearing that they will chase opponents from the pot and reduce the amount they could win, it is often the wrong play. When you have a strong hand there are lots of reasons to bet – and one of the most important is to protect your hand from opponents with big draws.

Of course, by betting to protect your hand, you are also building a pot that you have a good chance of winning. You force others to pay a price to see if they can improve their hands by hitting their draws.
