calvin_anderson_scoop_14may15.jpgSix SCOOP wins for Calvin Anderson, which should give the opposition something to chew on
Barely had we marveled at the latest results from the Spring Championship of Online Poker this morning, thinking how astonishing it was that players like James Obst and Woody Deck had added more titles to their resumes, when another result came in, almost the last of the day, which changed everything. I recognised the name immediately: “cal42688”.

Cal42688 is Calvin Anderson, one of only two players to have five SCOOP titles to his name. The other one? That would be Shaun Deeb.

Interestingly enough both were playing Event 13-H. Even more interesting, they had each reached the final table; two giants of the online game, and a rivalry that would go to the wire. In the end, as Pauly Maguire reported for the PokerStars Blog, Deeb would depart in fourth (Andrey “Kroko-dill” Zaichenko third, and Dan “djk123” Kelly second), leaving the way open for Anderson to nudge ahead on the all-time winner’s list. A record setting sixth SCOOP title.

Did I mention that it had already been a pretty good day up to that point?

First James Obst crossed the finish line first in Event 10-H to win his third SCOOP title (his fifth COOP). Obst, who plays under the name “Andy McLEOD”, out ran the likes of Joe “jcada99” Cada in second, John “dagunman” O’Shea in fourth and Artem “roi kin23” Litvinov in sixth – one of the meatier final tables, as Martin Harris reported.

A little later in the day Woody “plplaya” Deck earned himself a second SCOOP, his being a name that seems to have been around forever.

There were other wins, all of which deserve a hat tip and a little attention. So scroll down to find the full results and click the event name to go through to the full report. You can also catch up on all of the SCOOP 2015 results so far, on our dedicated results page.
