Home / Uncategorized / LAPT8 Panama: Rise and rain

The sun is up but hidden somewhere behind the clouds covering Panama City.

According to the forecast, those clouds will pump out water and lightning for the next few hours and finally reveal our starry space neighbor.

Players are here are hoping they won’t get to see it though. They’re looking to get their hands on a less deadly and more profitable shiny object: the LAPT8 Panama trophy.

Hundreds will try to get closer today, but only a select few will survive.

Yesterday saw 155 entrants but only 40 survived after 10 levels of play. Leading the final 40 is Andres Herrera, from Chile, who bagged up 209,000 at the end of the day. Argentina’s Richard Dubini comes in second with 176,000 and Peru’s Juan Hiro Nisisaka Trujillo rounds off the top three with 163,500.

Yesterday also saw the likes of Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari, Christian De Leon and Leo Fernandez along with players like Carter Gill, Ari Engel, Dominick Zito and Shakeeb Kazemipur, but all failed to make it through the day.

They’ll have another shot today though. Several shots actually.

Day 1b has unlimited rebuys until the end of dinner break. We expect several of those players back along with a whole new slew of contenders.

We’ll narrow down that list of players by the end of the day, have our overall chip leader and the official prize pool.

Maybe even some sunshine.

So stay tuned for more action from LAPT8 Panama as cards are about to hit the felt.
