Pratyush Buddiga has won the incredibly tough-looking €2k Turbo 6-Handed event for €65,650. The American beat EPT8 Madrid champion Frederik Jensen (€44,730) heads-up in a short battle after Antonio Monteiro Ramalho was knocked out in third (€29,550). In the final hand Jensen got his chips in ahead with A4 but was let down by the poker gods when Buddiga’s Q9 got there on the river of the 675A8 board.

Buddiga had picked up a big chip lead after a huge three-way all-in pot for over half the chips in play five-handed. Buddiga had QQ against Dan Smith’s 99 and Jose Carlos Garcia’s A4. The board bricked, Garcia was eliminated in 5th (€19,560) and Smith was crippled and knocked out soon after in 4th (€24,350).

The rest of the payouts read like a “Who’s who?” of the European circuit including Andren Chen (6th – €15,320), Anton Wigg (8th – €8480), Ami Barer (10th – €5,475), Georgios Zisimopoulos (14th – €4,370) and Kevin MacPhee (15th – €4,370).

Carl Wicen

In the €300 Turbo Edition of the EPT Main Event, there was a three-way chop with play ending without a battle for the trophy. Carl Wicen received the mighty spade and €8,900 while Ville Sissonen (€8,640) and Eldar Moldobek Uulu (€7,000) were the other two winners. Nikolay Tsanev, who won Event #60, finished 6th for €2,660, Lukas Schlumpf (winner of Event #62) was 19th for €625 and former EPT player of the Year Jan Bendik came 27th for €520.

Michele Gobbin

In the €200 two-day Malta Megastack, Michele Gobbin of Italy managed to double up twice against Thomas Lind then defeat the Swede in a classic race. It was QQ for Gobbin and the ladies triumphed against Lind’s AK on a 4102103 board. Gobbin received €12,100 for winning the event while Lind had to make do with €8,050 for second. Elena Stover finished 7th for €2,070.

Oscar Fred

Oscar Fred, a local here from Malta fittingly won Event #69, the final tournament of the EPT Malta Festival taking home €2,720. He beat a field of 109 players which included Konstantin Puchkov (10th – €225) and Event #55 winner Gregor Abmayr (13th – €195).
