Jose Quintas from Portugal was one of the returning players today, and with 53,500, would’ve had high hopes of a deep run. Having fewer than 30 big blinds is certainly not a safe position but, being an online star, it’s Quintas’ comfort zone and where he performs best.
Quintas has a phenomenal record on PokerStars, playing under the handle GoToCa$hier, and is closing on $2million in cashes. Last year was a particularly good year for him on the site as he racked up three six-figure cashes and two more above $75k.
These included a SCOOP title for more than $200k, a third place WCOOP finish for almost $270k, a Super Tuesday victory for just over a $100k and two more runner-up finishes in the same weekly tournament.
Instead of today ending in him going to the cashier, it ended with him going to the rail early. He lost half his stack in quick-time and reverted to shoving, first from under the gun, next from the big blind after a late position raise.
Another hand saw him raise from the hijack and pick up four callers en route to a J♦ 4♥ A♠flop. He quickly continued for 7,500 but folded when the player to his left moved all in.
From there his stack dwindled down to around 7,500 before he open shoved from the button with ace-five. Nicu Oleinic was in the big blind and felt priced in to call with 9♥ 3♥ . He spiked a three on the river and that was enough to see the back of the talented Portuguese player.
