For a third time the Eureka Poker Tour stopped in the King’s Casino, Rozvadov. This time it was to kick-off the tour’s fifth season, with a nine day festival containing 22 tournaments.

It all started with the €1,100 Main Event, which once again has a €500,000 guaranteed prize pool. Eureka is trying out a new format in Rozvadov, separating starting flights of the Main Event with a four-day gap. Day 1A was played on Saturday (Feb 21) and day 1B will follow on Thursday (Feb 26). On top of that, this season features a special new day 1C, which is a re-entry only flight with a turbo structure. Its debut will come right after day 1B, late in the Thursday’s evening.

So far, 98 players have entered the Main Event, eager for the Eureka’s return and jumping right into day 1A. At the end of an 11-level session, 24 players bagged chips, securing their seat for day 2.

Langar Oghabian from the Netherlands was the happiest amongst survivors. He managed to extend a 25k starting stack up to 258,900 chips, taking the lead at least until Thursday.

On the other hand, Eureka 4 Vienna champion Zoltan Gal was not that successful, busting on the opening day. Last season that might have meant the end for him, but as we mentioned, he can still benefit from a brand new Re-Entry flight.

Day 1a top five chip counts:

1. Langar Oghabian (Netherlands) 258,900
2. Denis Ursu (Russia) 219,300
3. Willibald Stopfer (Germany) 170,500
4. Torsten Pischl (Germany) 168,300
5. Milan Sasek (Czech Republic) 160,800

The Main Event will be much busier on day 1B with more than 130 players already registered. We can expect a lot of great action with many famous players confirming their arrival, including Team PokerStars Pros George Danzer, Christopher and Matthias De Meulder, as well as a Friend of PokerStars Natalie Hof.

In the meantime, taking place between Main Event starting days is the €220 Eureka 100 Grand Challenge. As the event name reveals, players can enjoy a €100,000 guaranteed prize pool. Starting days 1a-1d were scheduled for Feb 21-24 with an optional single re-entry in each of the flights.

Day 1a created a 64-entry field. German player Fabian Filchner seized a huge lead and will bring 137,200 chips into day 2 while Premysl Rada was the only other player to cross the 100k mark.

Sunday’s day 1B attracted a 48-strong field with no-one about to get near Filchner’s target. Stefan Zollinger bagged 85,300 to „win” the flight, just nine hundred chips ahead of his friend Ali Sameeian.

We saw a fresh start to the new week as Monday’s attendance proved that the festival is starting to warm-up. A total of 179 entries were made in the Eureka 100 Grand Challenge day 1C. Martin Kabrhel, a former EPT High Roller winner, collected 114,600 chips and seized a top spot among 79 survivors. Today’s day 1D offers the last option to enter the event, starting at 2pm. It is closely connected with day 2, which follows right after, kicking-off at 8.30pm.

The poker room in the King’s Casino will be getting crowded in the next few days. The proof comes in from a simple observation – hotels in nearby Rozvadov reported triple the amount of reservations made than for previous festival dates. So if you plan to join the fun, don’t hesitate to book your rooms promptly to secure accomodation during Eureka 5 Rozvadov.
