The poker action is winding down now at Crown Perth as the second flight of the ANZPT Main Event Day 1 has just drawn to a close. Players will also have a chance to wind down tonight, with many sure to attend the Player’s Party at the Merrywell Restaurant and Bar across the road.

93 players ponied up the $2,300 entry fee today, just shy of yesterday’s 99 entrants. The tournament attracted some international interest with players like Steve O’Dwyer, Stephen Chidwick, Martin Finger, Jack Salter and Mustapha Kanit among the field.

After six levels of play only 51 remained. They’ll join the 54 qualifiers from Day 1a at 12:30pm local time tomorrow to fight it out on the official Day 2. The 192 entrants bringing the total prize pool to $393,600.

Some of those who weren’t so lucky included O’Dwyer who made an early exit this afternoon, Jonas Mackoff, Alexander Debus, Patrick Healy, Ash Mason and Minh Nguyen, all notables who hit the rail today.

For others, the cards were running as hot as the weather outside. English pro Stephen Chidwick claimed the title of chip boss, finishing the day with 76,350. Chidwick’s stack only just behind Day 1a’s chip leader, Raiden Kan, who will start tomorrow with 80,450.

Two others who accumulated monster stacks were Jack Ferrari (76,075) and Tamara Volkoff (72,850). Stev Lackovic (61,100), Henry Szmelcer (52,175) and Michael Guzzardi (36,125) all managed to make it through to Day 2. Below is how the top ten stacks compare.
