The final three in this short, sweet 6-max event know a little about close calls. 1jos2 once took third in the Sunday Million. Zidix finished third in a Mini FTOPS two years ago. And MSC1121 ended up one spot short of a WCOOP title in 2012’s Event #20 ($215 FL Hold’em). But tonight, after a four-way deal determined the money finish, MSC1121 finally rose to the top and captured his first COOP title and over $28k

Event #37 missed the $225,000.00 guarantee… albeit by a mere 15 players. 2,985 turned out and 390 earned a share of it, with first place taking home $35,437.50.

Less than four hours after cards went in the air, the blinds were up to 60,000/120,000 and seven players remained. 1jos2 opened for a min-raise with K♠ 8♠ and short stack level7777 moved all-in for 396,930 with A♦ J♦ on the button. The Q♠ 4♥ 2♠ flop gave 1jos2 a flush draw and the 7♠ turn filled it, sending level7777 to the rail on the final table bubble.

Final table chip counts

Seat 1: MSC1121 (2,821,299 in chips)
Seat 2: zidix (5,158,179 in chips)
Seat 3: Ialogen (1,160,896 in chips)
Seat 4: eisenhower1 (1,966,901 in chips)
Seat 5: 1jos2 (2,866,073 in chips)
Seat 6: HusamaPasta2 (951,652 in chips)

A Super Tuesday and Sunday Warm-Up champion, eisenhower1 was the most decorated player at the final table. However, he was the first player to exit, when his K♦ 9♣ didn’t catch up to 1jos2’s Aâ™  J♥ . Ialogen followed him to the rail a few minutes later, after open-shoving for 2.3 million from the cutoff with 8♥ 8â™  . 1jos2 called with A♣ Qâ™  and flopped an ace, ending Ialogen’s run in fifth place.

Two hands later, MSC1121 made a button shove for his last 13 big blinds with Q♦ J♣ . 1jos2 called with pocket tens in the big blind, but lost the race when MSC1121 flopped a queen and doubled to 3.75 million.

The final four agreed to pause the action and discuss a potential deal. Here’s how they stacked up at the time:

1jos2 5,553,817
MSC1121 4,412,598
zidix 3,845,281
HusamaPasta2 1,113,304

Final table host Jorge “Baalim” Limon facilitated the negotiations and provided the players with ICM and chip count chop numbers per their request. Chip leader 1jos2 agreed to the ICM numbers, but zidix wanted an additional $1,000 on top of his share.

zidix: ya i want icm +1k pls
1jos2: lol
1jos2: dude
zidix: yes mate?
1jos2: not from me sir
1jos2: maybe others?
zidix: you dont have to give it up tho
HusamaPasta2: u can get 4.5k for 1 place
zidix: i think shortie should give up some
zidix: 16ks too much

HusamaPasta2 agreed to forgo the $1,000 and have it added to zidix’s stack. However, the deal nearly fell apart once MSC1121 realized the adjustment would award zidix a higher share for a stack shorter than his. Zidix agreed to give $300 over to MSC1121 and the deal closed, with $4,500 still on the table for the winner.

HusamaPasta2 soon went out in fourth place, albeit after a dramatic runout. All-in with 5♥ 7♣ vs. MSC1121’s Kâ™  Q♣ on a K♥ 7♦ 4♥ flop, HusamaPasta2 turned the 5♣ to make two pair, but the 4♦ river gave MSC1121 the winner with kings up.

When play turned three-handed, MSC1121 had the lead with 7.48 million, 1jos2 was second in chips with 4.92 million, and zidix was the short stack with 2.53 million. However, it was 1jos2, winner in the four-handed deal, who went out in third place. 1jos2 made a small blind shove with Q♥ 8â™  , but ran into MSC1121’s A♦ 10â™  in the big blind. MSC1121’s ace-high held up, sending us to heads-up play.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 1: MSC1121 (10,432,325 in chips)
Seat 2: zidix (4,492,675 in chips)

MSC1121 and zidix jabbed at one another for four hands before we had a winner. Holding 8♠ 10♥ , MSC1121 min-raised the button to 500,000 and zidix called from the big blind with 8♦ 9♦ . Zidix hit middle pair on the Q♦ 9♥ 3♣ flop and checked, but MSC1121 checked behind. The 10♣ turn changed everything, improving MSC1121 to a pair of tens. Again, zidix checked and MSC1121 bet 531,250. Zidix shoved and MSC1121 called, the river blanking with the A♣ to give MSC1121 the win.

Congratulations to Japan’s MSC1121 on his first TCOOP title! He banked $28,661.57 while runner-up zidix earned $23,760.91.
