It has taken five days and 282 eliminations, but finally we have reached the final table of the 2014 Asia Championship of Poker. There is no time to slow down now, however, as eight more eliminations are needed before the champion is crowned.

The man of the moment at the final table is Sunny Jung.

Twelve months ago Jung was right here in this exact same position. There were eight players standing in his way and he overcame all of them to win the 2013 ACOP title.

Can he do it again?

Well, considering he has the experience and the chip lead, we won’t be writing him off.

Jung will be facing some stiff competition though.

The player with the second largest stack is Ami Barer.

He won the Aussie Millions earlier this year and since then has posted multiple six-figure results. He also finished third in the ACOP Warm-up just a few days ago for HK$587,100 (~US$75,000).

Outside of Barer and Jung, it is Joseph Cheong who has plenty of attention.

Cheong has proven himself as one of the finest talents in tournament poker over the last few years, posting more than US$10 million in results. He made the final table of the ACOP Super High Roller just a few days ago too, so is clearly in good form.

These three might be the players with the attention fixed on them, but there are six others still gunning for the title and they won’t be going down without a fight.

The local crowd will certainly be supporting Raiden Kan and Zuo ‘ST’ Wang.

Wang’s best result came back in 2011 when he finished fifth in the APPT Macau Main Event, while Kan’s best tournament credit was also in 2011 when he won the now defunct MPC Championship Main Event.

There are two players who will be hoping to take the ACOP title back to Russia in Vladimir Troyanovskiy and Konstantin Pogodin.

Troyanovskiy is a very experienced high-stakes player with almost US$3 million in results, while Pogodin has posted a few handy results in Macau and will be looking to improve his resume today.

Norwegian Tore Lukashaugen is also at the final table and is no slouch himself with nine-years poker experience, during which time he has made a WSOP final table.

Candian Gabriel Le Jossec rounds out the final nine. He perhaps has the most modest resume of all the returning players, but will be hoping to change that with the ACOP title.
