Home / Uncategorized / LAPT7 Peru: Grand Final smashes records, more than a milly up for grabs

That time has come. When the door stops swinging both ways, allowing players to exit and enter over and again, as more than a few have done. Now the traffic underneath the “salida” sign becomes one-way only with the close of late registration and thus any more opportunities to reenter the LAPT Peru Grand Final Main Event.

With that momentous occasion likewise arrives the final figures in terms of total entries and prize pool. As was the case for the previous four visits of the tour to Lima, the fifth has proven once again the popularity of the west coast stop for tour regulars and many newcomers as well.

New records have been established both for total entries and prize pool at this year’s LAPT Peru Main Event. The 692 entries well exceeds last year’s high of 557, while the total prize pool of $1,040,420 marks the first time Lima has cracked the seven-figure mark, the biggest prize pool ever here since Season 3’s $931,200.

A look at the last five years for the LAPT in Lima:

* Season 3: 384 entries ($2,700 buy-in); $931,200 prize pool
* Season 4: 350 entries ($2,500 buy-in); $774,000 prize pool
* Season 5: 376 entries ($2,500 buy-in); $838,860 prize pool
* Season 6: 557 entries ($1,700 buy-in); $810,440 prize pool
* Season 7: 692 entries ($1,700 buy-in); $1,040,420 prize pool

A breakdown of how that milly-plus prize pool will be divided will be delivered shortly. Meanwhile, the stream of players exiting the poker room here in the Atlantic City Casino appears to have slowed considerably from earlier today.

Everyone wanted to come. And now no one wants to leave.
